Surmania Zero is the former settlement of the Surmanians, who were the followers of the Guardian Xorn. Following Xorn's rebellion against the other Guardians, he chose to sacrifice his own people by luring the other Guardians to Surmania Zero for a final conflict, which led to its destruction. Xorn was ultimately unsuccessful and was defeated here, with his claw being sealed away in a great pit created during his defeat.

Before the events of the story, Hect brings Emelious and Raven to this site, where Emelious retrieves the claw, much to Raven's protestations and digs it into his hand, creating the Godkiller sword and beginning Xorn's revival.
